Personal Statement
I would love to play golf and study biology at the same time over in the States. Studying biology alongside golf would be a goal of mine and I feel like I’m a committed student as I have received a grade A in GCSE Biology and I’m currently sitting on a Grade B in AS Biology, with my A Level examinations coming up in June, I hope to improve this grade to an A. I've played golf ever since I was 6 years old alongside my dad, who is also a keen golfer. Having been a member of Whitehead for 10 years and Royal Portrush for 8 years and winning several individual competitions. I have played for several ladies' teams and represented each club on many occasions. Playing for Whitehead's Senior Foursomes team and Miele team, I’ve also represented Royal Portrush as part of the Junior Cup Team and the U19 Girls team for 5 years and in 2013, where we reached the semi-finals of the regional finals.
I would be a dedicated team player as I have had many experiences individually and as part of a team. More recently in the summer of 2015, I was picked to represent The Ulster U18 Inter-Pro team in Wexford. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience and won 5 out of 6 points for Ulster. Also this year, I managed to qualify for the quarter finals of the Ulster Girls and narrowly lost out on the 19th hole.
From the age of 12, I have represented my schools' golf team, where we have gotten stronger each year. In 2013 my teammate and I won the Ulster Schools Championship, qualifying for the All Ireland finals and later that year we managed to win the All-Ireland finals. Another perk of this achievement was gaining my Honours blazer in school.
Golf has given me motivation, not just on the course, but in my studies. I feel like being part of a competitive field has helped me advance in a lot of aspects throughout my academic career.
