Personal Statement
My name is Jacqueline González Howard and currently I'm in Sophomore year at the American School of Durango in México. Even though I've been in México my whole life, I dream about going to college in the United States. Since I was 10 years old, my strongest goal to accomplish was to get into a good college playing my sport: golf. As I'm growing older this is the goal I'm most looking forward to achieve . I've been playing golf my entire life, since I was 3 years old, with my parents guidance. They gave me a plastic golf set so I could join their Sunday games. When I turned 5 years old, golf became essential in my life. I started training every afternoon from Tuesday to Sunday. As well, I began playing in the ACGN, at the age of 6. I grew up with this sport and I continue to. Currently, my daily training continues, as well as my participation in national and international tournaments that my family is willing and able to afford. Even though my tournament history is not immense, I play each one as if it were my last.
Golf is truly something I consider my life, but besides, challenging and helpful at the same time. It tests my abilities, not only physical, but mental. It demands you to go into battle where it involves sacrifices such as training until dusk or rejecting outings with friends due to my tournament or training the next day. Although I've lost some teenage experiences, I've gained other much better ones that are shaping my future. Some of these being; meeting my best friends, people that have changed my perspective of the sport, grown strong bonds with my team, and most importantly, it has shaped the way I am and think today. The skills that I have learned in these years playing have helped me in my daily life and continue to. These are some of my many reasons for my love and dedication to the sport through these years.
Currently, I practice at Club Campestre of Durango as many days of the week as possible. My training is based on what I need to improve the most. As well, when I get the chance I enjoy playing with experienced people and work on how to manage my game properly and most importantly, learn from them.
