Erika Holmberg '22 Recruiting Profile

Hello! My name is Erika Holmberg and I am currently a Junior at Pleasant Valley High School in Bettendorf, Iowa. Golf has been an integral part of my life since I was five years old, and it has been a joy getting to play and compete in the sport I love for so many years. I have learned so much about teamwork, character, and integrity through my participation in this sport, and continuing to do so at the collegiate level is a great passion of mine. 

I began competing in tournaments at the age of seven, and have worked my way up to competing in events hosted by the AJGA, HJGT, Prep Tour, IGA, and Iowa PGA Junior Tour. I also have been a member of the high school Varsity Golf Team since my Freshman year, medaling in multiple events including a trip to the State Tournament. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic, my 2020 spring golf season was cancelled. Regardless, I have continued to practice, train, and compete so that when the 2021 season begins, I will be prepared. Additionally, in July of 2020 I decided to take my game to the next level and committed to a personal swing coach.

Ultimately, this sport isn't just about the numbers and statistics, but is also about the life skills that you pick up along the way. Teamwork, initiative, and hard work are a few important values that I  focus on incorporating into my life on and off the golf course. This sport has taught me so much about how to be a good person and how to have great morals, and those are skills that will last a lifetime. Growing as a person through this sport is my passion, and doing so on a college golf team is my dream. It is my hope that through my profile, those of you reading this will understand that as well.
