Hi, my name is Abigayle Buchanan and I'm a junior from Richmond, KY...my friends call me Abi. I have been playing golf since I was about 8 years old and I LOVE IT! I play on my high school varsity golf team, the Madison Central High School Lady Indians and love to travel and play golf as much as I can. My family and I had the opportunity to go to Scotland this past summer and we went to the 150th British Open at St. Andrews...and I was able to play Carnoustie (shot an 80!). #excited
I love to hang out with my friends and go to church at Southland Christian Church in central KY. I am very involved as a servant/student leader of a small group and I am serving as a team leader on our meal pack program where we pack 1 million meals for those in need around the world. I have been able to go on mission trips and work on construction and remodeling projects for those in need and it is a true passion of mine. I also have had the chance to serve in the nursery at church, on the student leadership council and help with the special needs ministry at an event called "Exceptional Getaway" where we get to hang out with some very cool kids for a few hours every month...I truly love the time we get to spend together!
I am involved with several clubs at school (FCA, National Honor Society, Central in Action, Dance Blue, etc.). If I'm not at the golf course, you can find me at church or hanging out with my friends at one of our houses. I was also able to help teach younger golfers in the Gibson Bay Junior Clinic this year and it was very rewarding for me to see the gleam in their eyes...it was as much of a benefit for me as it was for them!
I'm really excited about the possibility to play golf at the college level and believe that I have a lot to offer the team and university wherever I land, in golf, the classroom and outside the classroom. I really love the team atmosphere of my current high school golf team and really enjoy traveling around to AJGA, Golfweek, USGA, and KY JR PGA tour events, especially when I am able to play with others I know.
Another passion of mine is helping others...I hope to eventually work in the healthcare field, maybe as a nurse or a physical therapist or wherever I am called to work and serve. I'm excited about what's next and can't wait to see this next chapter unfold! I'm a fun-loving, easy going girl with no drama and love to put in the work to see results on the course and lower scores on the scorecard.
If you have any questions or want to chat, look me up on Insta or shoot me a text or email. Have a fantastic day!
Thanks,
Abi Buchanan, 2024
