Hello, my name is Olivia Kotelnicki and this year I am a Junior at Almont Highschool in Almont Michigan. I love the game of golf probably as much as you do. I started golfing at age 10 after my uncle got me my first set of clubs. He wished for me to get into golf so that he could connect with his only niece. I’m an only child and I find the game of golf a gift because it allows me to connect to most of my family members who are older than me. I also love sharing the game as a coach and teacher to young children through my work at TGA of Southeast MI, a program that introduces kids to golf through after-school programs, leagues, and camps nationwide.
My goal as a collegiate player is to play golf through my first 4 years of college on at least a partial scholarship. Going to college is very expensive and I would like to help my parents and myself out by offering my skills for at least a little money. A more personal goal is to try and be one of the best on the team. Since I started playing golf I’ve always tried to be on top and find that when I push for varsity or the top spot, I play a lot better. Why should I be on your team? I’m going to be an asset to your team in all ways possible. Not only will I bring low scores for the team, but I will also be there to help out my fellow teammates. I am extremely dedicated to my sport and want to be an asset to the team and the school. I’m willing to do anything that you need me to do.
I am unique in character, athletics, and academics in many ways. In terms of character, I am very kind and try to be helpful to everyone I meet, especially to my teammates. I believe that no matter how individual golf is, we are called a team for a reason and we should help each other not only on the course but also through life. In terms of athletics, I train every day whether it be on the range, on the course, or even in my backyard. I am constantly thinking about what I need to work on next and fine-tuning my skills. My short game is one of the best parts of my golf game by far. As my coaches always tell me, you might be able to drive the ball 200+ yards but if you can’t get it in the hole, what's the point? Through my hard work, my scores are continually dropping and getting better. My academics are one of the things I’m most proud of because of my dedication to school. I’m 4th in my class with a 4.0 GPA and I passed my AP World History test with a 5 (the highest score possible). I continue to look for ways to keep me challenged academically with AP classes and strive to earn college credits while I’m still in high school. I thank you for looking at my profile and hope you choose me to represent your school out on the course.
