I’ve been casually playing golf with my parents since I was 5 years old. Summer between 8th grade and 9th grade I got serious about wanting to play golf in college. I played in four tournaments during that summer winning three of them. I also played on my Junior PGA travel team, and we won the State Championship. I finished third in the Junior Club Championship in 2018. I invested time every week with my PGA swing coach. This allowed me to drop 12 strokes from my 8th to 9th grade year. 2019 was a great summer. I finished 2nd in Club Championship in 2019. I worked every week with my swing coach Jason Guss. This allowed me to drop another 6 strokes off my average. We recently won our conference title again and I was named 1st team all conference Sophomore and Junior year. Playing in the Michigan High School Division 1 State Championship as a freshman, sophomore, and Junior was the highlight of my first 3 years of high school Varsity golf. The weather was terrible as a freshman. It was 40 degrees, pouring rain, and 30 mph wind for both days of competition. This also included multiple weather delays forcing all players to come inside. That experience helped me grow as a player, and taught me that I need to experience playing in harsher weather conditions to play at the next level. I took 3rd individually as a sophomore and Junior at Regionals and qualified for state championship. All of the practice time is paying off and continues to prepare me for college golf. In my Junior year I dropped another 4 strokes.
I learned the value of teamwork, leadership, commitment, and sacrifice my fit’s 3 years of high school. I learned from that hard work and significantly improved every year. I’m looking for a program that fits me athletically as well as academically. I believe I not only have the talent and athletic ability to compete for a college team, but the character, work ethic, and leadership skills to make an immediate impact on your program. As a two sport athlete that plays at the highest level in both sports, I know that I have what it takes to be a leader on your team.
