Personal Statement

Hi, my name is Avery O’Donnell and I am a Junior at Elk River High School in Elk River MN. I graduate in the year of 2023. I currently have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 and am in National Honor Society. I am very interested in playing golf after high school at the next level. I just competed in my 4th year of high school golf and my 6th year of summer tournaments. My goal is to find a school that best fits me academically and has a strong athletic program.

I was named the captain of our girls golf team in the 2020-2021 season and again in the 2021-2022 season. I have been named all-conference in the Northwest Suburban Conference every year since 7th grade. I placed 3rd in the section 3AAA tournament by shooting 80-77 and qualified for the state tournament. At the state tournament i didn’t have my best rounds, I went 85-78. During the summer season I play on the Minnesota players tour. I was also invited to play in the Minnesota vs. Wisconsin matches!

Outside of golf I enjoy school, being with friends and family and playing basketball. I have played basketball since kindergarten. I have been playing High School basketball since 8th grade. I have a job at Elk River Golf Course in Elk River MN.

I shot 84-79. I hit the ball decent on the first day but had 38 putts. Putted better second day but didn’t hit the ball as well. Nice weather, a bit chilly though.

Shot 83, I played really well in the beginning then fell apart towards the end. Little chilly but mainly nice weather. Took first place and played from 5900 yards.

I played really well, only had one 3 putt and shot 75. Weather was nice a little windy though. Played from 5400 yards. Won in first playoff hole. Winning this tournament got me invited to play in the Minnesota Wisconsin match play event.
