I’m Jayla Mao. I’m 16 years old and from Farmington,MN. I started playing golf at 7 years old and my passion for it kept growing ever since. I’ve been on the Farmington girls golf team since 7th grade. Just this year we placed 2nd in sections and I tied for 6th, gaining a spot at state. I’m grateful to have made new friends and experiences from golf. Playing golf has been a great way for me to connect with others, especially younger kids. I love being able to Volunteer my time and help younger kids get excited to play the game!
Golf has helped me in many ways especially in my own life. I’ve learned to have patience, from golf. I know that a few bad shots won’t define who I am as a player and as a person. Ive also learned that not everything in a round will be perfect and it has helped me overcome that feeling of always wanting to have a perfect round or even get a perfect score in school. Ive learned to embrace the mistakes and learn from them, to try and get better.
