My name is Kessa Mara and I am a junior at Willmar Senior High school, in Willmar MN. I have spent time at the golf course as long as I can remember. My dad would tell me stories about him pushing me around the course in my stroller while he played. I have been playing golf competitively since 7th grade. That year I helped the varsity team make day two at sections. I was chosen to be captain of the golf team my sophomore year. It has always been my goal to play golf in college. I am excited for the challenge of intense competition. I believe this will push me as a person and a golfer. My coaches say I am coach able and will outwork and out think my opponents. They have also described me as an athlete that never gets rattled. Education is also a top priority for me. I work very hard in the classroom and take my academics seriously.
I am very passionate about sports. There is nothing else I would rather be doing than playing in competition. My dad would say I’m the type of person to throw 4 bags in a row on the last round to beat you in cornhole. I also compete in varsity girls hockey. I had a pivotal role in helping my team qualify for the state tournament the 2019-2020 season. Tennis was something I decided to join my Sophomore year. I ended up playing varsity that season, and the following year I earned a singles spot and was voted team MVP. I also enjoy playing pickleball and wakesurfing in the summer. I play the bassoon in concert band, piano in jazz band and the tenor saxophone in pep band.
I am excited to go through this recruiting process and find a college that is the perfect fit for me.
