My name is Cecelia Chapman and I look forward to continuing my golf career in college. So far in my high school career, I have received academic all-state honors every year. I am a four-time all-state golfer, the 2021 Class B State Runner up, 2022 Class B State Champion, and a two-time Division 3 Champion. I am believed to be the only person to have ever received all-state honors in two separate classifications, in the same academic year in Montana.
I have loved sports all of my life and was a multisport athlete. However, after extensive reconstruction foot surgery as a freshman, I turned my full attention to golf and have not looked back since. I love the life lessons golf has taught me, especially how your mindset can drive your performance. When I am out on the course, I am in my happy place. It's like everything else goes away, and I can control the outcome. Sometimes in golf, there are good and bad days, but the number one lesson that the sport has taught me is that you have to embrace your mistakes in order to be successful. In golf and in life, you are never going to be perfect, mistakes, accidents, and failures are inevitable, but that doesn't make you a failure. The important thing is how you learn from, embrace, and come back from them.
Along with my love for golf, I also have a love for academics, religion, being involved, and helping people. I love to learn and have a passion for writing. Throughout my academic career, I have taken many honors and higher-level classes. I have been involved in many clubs throughout my high school career such as Key Club, Business Professionals of America, Fellowship in Christian Athletes, National Honors Society, and Student Council. I am Catholic, and love being involved in my church. I did Catholic Youth Coalition board for a few years, taught 1st-grade religious education classes, and have helped out with various discipleship groups for years. Along with that I also volunteer at my previous elementary/middle school on Fridays.
My main goal in life is to live: to push myself out of my comfort zone, to travel, to fail and learn from my mistakes, to pursue things that bring me joy, and to make the world a better place. I can't wait to take the first step in the right direction by pursuing my golf career in college. Thank you for considering me!
