Hi my name is Dakota Presley Tallent. I attend Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas NV, I am in my junior year of high school. I have played many sport growing up but golf has always been the one I go back to. Golf has been a major part of my life, it has its ups and downs but every moment was and is worth it. I have experienced and learned so much by playing this game. For example, I have been fortunate enough to travel, meet other amazing young junior golfers and play at some of the most beautiful golf courses. I have learned so much by playing this game. I learned that its not an easy, as life is at times. That if you really want something you will put your mind to it by working hard, sacrificing and staying in the moment. I believe by experiencing this it has made my mentality stronger and I am thankful for that. I love teams, you build friendships and with that you get to learn and support each other and that's exactly what I want to experience and do. I want to be apart of a team but I also want to be a contributor, I don't want to sit on the sidelines. I will work hard each and everyday and I will earn my spot in the starting rotation.
Athletically, I was Southern Nevada Junior Golf association (SNJGA) 2020 Girls 13-14 Player of the Year, selected 2021 Southern Nevada Golf Coaches Association (SNGCA) 5A 1st Team All-League, 5A 1st Team All-Region, and 5A 2nd Team All-Southern Nevada. In Junior Golf Score Board ranking, January 1, 2021 I improved from 23rd in ranking to 10th in Nevada, 1,253 in national rankings to 575 overall as of November 29, 2021 and I’m 84 of 614 in class of 2024. In the past 365 days, I have 3 tournament wins, five top 5’s and three top 10 finishes.
Most notables of 2021, Winning first tournament I played in, HJGT Phoenix Winter Open where I shot 74/70, finishing 6th of 83 players at The Brophy Rodeo High School Tournament presented by Ping where I shot 70/73 and finishing T5th SCPGA TTC at River Ridge where I shot 73 to keep my Toyota Tour Cup Card for 2022.
My immediate goal on the golf course is to work with my swing coach improving all aspects of my game for year 2022. Continue my weekly gym strength and stretching regiment to develop physically and athletically. Play in my very first AJGA tournament in 2022. My near future is to help BGHS Women’s Golf Team get back to 2022 5-A Nevada State Championship and bring home the win. To showcase my talent, leadership, commitment and dedication to team and teamwork while finding a college program that is willing to invest in me, a program that believes in me, and a coach that has confidence in my talents and abilities.
