Shelby Mercer '18 Recruiting Profile

My dream is to become an LPGA pro golfer but if that doesn't work out my back up plain would be a golf coach like at the first tee or a detective.I go to the first tee of canton i have been going there for 4 years now, I take lessons and i'm a coach at the first tee.I played in the Drive Chip and Putt I took first in drive,chip and overall and 2nd putting.My coach from the first tee said I have what  money can't buy the love and passion for the game.I never give up even if it gets hard because I know it's going to be hard before it's easy.My favorite golfer is Rickie Fowler he has inspired me to keep going and never give up.Golf means so much to me because it has taught me to be patient,responsibility and golf has taught me that things don't always go your way but you always have another day because one day you might have a good day on the course then the next day you have a bad day on the course.I'm on the girls golf team at Glenoak high school.This game has given me a confidence, one that allows me to have the courage to speak to people I’ve never met before.I know that as long as golf is around you will find me playing it.To me golf is not only a fun and amazing game but an escape from reality I feel like on the course I can get away from my troubles or stress in my life golf also gives you life-long friendships that are built on the golf course.When I started golf 4 years ago I had no idea I would be blessed with all the people that golf has brought into my life like my high school golf team. I really didn't have friends before high school till I got on the golf team and met these wonderful girls and we all became friends but they are like my sisters to me and then there's the First Tee my coach terry he has help me through so much and the first tee gave me friends that i'll keep for the rest of my life I'm truly honored to call these people my friends and wouldn't have met them without the game of golf.My golf team and my friends from the first tee we all share one thing and that's the love we have for golf.No matter were we are we will always be in each other hearts because we have the same tattoo in our hearts the love and passion for the game of golf. Golf is not just a game to me it's my life.To me golf means one thing and always will "the pleasure I get from swinging a golf club".
