My name is Sydney Ater, I am a student athlete at Adena High School in Frankfort, Ohio. I began learning about the game of golf at 6 years old when my parents signed me up for a US KIDS Golf clinic. I completed all 3 years of the series, all while playing in numerous US KIDS tournaments. Growing up, I had a hard time deciding between golf and basketball, but as I finished my freshman year in high school, I decided to put most of my effort into golf. I still play basketball, but golf is my main focus and my goal is to play it at the next level. I come from a very small school, where I am the only female golfer, so I have to play on the boys and girls varsity team. It is very challenging as a girl to be playing with the boys, but it has taught me adversity and to work hard in order to compete. These experiences have attributed to my hard work ethic, my willingness to learn from my swing coaches, and my drive to be the best that I can be. I look forward to continuing to improve my game in the offseason and to play in upcoming spring tournaments.
