Throughout my life I’ve dedicated my #1 goal to learning from every situation I’m in and growing as a person through both triumphs and struggles. And looking back on the most impactful things that have helped shape my character thus far, golf has been a major positive addition in every aspect. Golf has offered me the opportunity to strengthen leadership skills through helping others and having to set the standard as an example for young players as well as teammates. It has also given the chance to build relationships with mentors and become comfortable in environments with advisers and successful people. Golf’s also been a great way to relate to people from all statuses, it's a sport for every age and ability - anyone I’ve spoken to has an interest and respect for the sport and I take pride in being a part of something that is so widely respectable. I’ve learned and seen the effects of having respect, dedication, determination, and participation and how each of those contributes to a healthy team atmosphere on the course, as well as traits of a healthy life outside of the game too. My high school golf team has been the best family to be a part of out of every other sport I've played, I love the idea of relating to the other teammates and working on each of our individual games to improve as a whole team and then being able to celebrate as each of us grows.
I have golfed for about 8 years, this will be my 5th year of competitive golf. I am 5’8 and weigh 160 pounds. All 8 years I have spent either as a participant of The First Tee program, or as a volunteer helping to coach. I have enjoyed my experience with The First Tee and look forward to continuing with it for as long as I can. I played on my school’s varsity team as a freshmen and held the #4 spot before moving up to the #2 sophomore year. Currently I switch between spot 2 & 3. I spent a lot of time with my team this year welcoming incoming players and helping them to feel more comfortable with their first experience in high school golf.
I’m very interested in furthering my golf career in college, as well as pursuing a career in Psychology. Being from Ohio, I’d like to stay in the mid-west or east coast being that’s what I’m most familiar with, at the same time I’m open to any experience that offers a welcoming environment and well developed programs catered to my chosen major. Id prefer to attend a small or medium sized school as I feel it's where I'd be most comfortable. Anything that fits other preferences is something I'm interested and excited to look into.
