I aspire to go to college to play women's golf and get my degree. I would like to get a degree in business and go on to a job in accounting or financial management. I feel it is important to focus on education in both high school and college to be able to receive a job that both pleases me joyfully and financially. Going to college is the most important step in pursuing a career, especially one in finances, because it lets you explore the career field and gives you all the information that you need to understand the job.
I would make a great college athlete because of my determined mindset. Once I create a goal or something I want to achieve, I will work as hard as it takes to be successful. I am different from other recruits because of my serious work ethic, not only in sports, but school as well. I work hard to get better than I was the day before and am willing to put in a lot of effort for an even greater outcome. My character really speaks out in the game of golf, for I never give up and look to make an opportunity to improve in every shot.
One difference that I have overcome is playing on a boys golf team. My school does not have enough girls to form a girls team, so instead, I made the boys golf team. I am the only girl on the boys varsity team, and in my conference, there is only one other girl that contributes to her varsity boys team. Many people tell me how unlucky I am that I have to play on a boys team because not only is the competition greater, but the rules do not change for girls: I have to play from the men's tees, just like all of the other boys. (Therefore, my stats are based off golfing from both the men's and women's tees) But, I do not view it as unlucky at all; I think it has made me a better and stronger golfer because of the added challenge of competing with boys. I find myself pushing to be the best golfer I can to be as good as and better than boys, who offer such great competition. Now, I am beating almost every opponent I golf with, and consistently score in the top 4, mainly in the top 2. It has made me a better golfer because of the great competition, having to hit the ball a farther distance while making all the other parts of my game accurate, and it has pushed me to reach my full potential.
