I began playing golf in 8th grade after playing competitive soccer for 8 years. My family had moved to Broken Arrow and I would have been playing soccer for my sixth coach in six years. I told my dad that I didn’t want to play soccer any longer and he asked me what did I want to do in it’s place. As a child, I had gone to the golf course with him several times and so I told him I wanted to try golf.
I would say the two most influential things in my life are my family and my faith. My family are my biggest supporters and my relationship with Christ is the most influential thing in my life. I try to live my life to honor God in all I do including academics and athletics. My favorite verse of Scripture is Philippians 4:13 which says “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Golf has taught me perseverance and to never give up.
Thus far in my high school career there are two accomplishments that I am most proud. First, helping my team to win the 6A State Championship my freshman year as 4 bag on Varsity. The other is winning the “Coaches Award” my sophomore year and having my coach say the following about me.
This award goes to a player who exemplifies all of the characteristics we as coaches look for in players. She is kind to everyone- I can't tell you how many times I would look back down the fairway and see her raking the bunker for another girl in her group. She is (almost) always smiling, she takes pride in the classroom, she is friends with everyone...including players on other teams, she is a constant encouragement to her teammates, she works extremely hard and is determined to be successful. These qualities are about so much more than the game and golf, and I am so thankful to have the opportunity to coach her.
I believe that I am the kind of person and player that helps make a team better on and off the course and I hope to continue playing in college.
