I have been playing golf for a total of five years, two years before high school and three in high school. In the first two years I did not play competitively, I played for the fun and enjoyment. The next three years I played on the varsity golf team at GCC, freshman year was the first time I really played competitive golf. The first tournaments I played were an eye-opener, they taught me that golf was not only a physical sport, but also a mental one. Throughout my high school golf career I have been fortunate enough to represent my school three times at the PIAA State Championship at Heritage Hills Golf Resort. This past year, my junior year, was a completely different experience for me than the previous two. I was the oldest member on the team, meaning that I had to be the leader. It definitely taught me to have more self confidence and to be very supportive of the rest of my teammates. I was also very fortunate to be able to attend the PIAA State Championship not only as a team for my school, but also as an individual. This experience as an individual showed me that all my hard work is paying off and has truly motivated me to continue to lower my scores and become overall a better player.
I am very thankful for my parents, who have never played golf before me, for enrolling me into a golf program while on vacation five years ago. That first experience truly started my love for the sport and I am very fortunate that my school has a girls golf team that they continues to support so that I can personally grow as a person, teammate, and a golfer.
