Hey! I started playing golf at about 12 years old, some would say
that is a bit late, I would too.
Back then, I was competing against girls who had been playing
since they were little. Right then and there I knew that I had to
work twice as hard on my game if I was going to catch up, and I
did.
I had the honor of making the Puerto Rico Junior National Team
when I was 14. It is at this moment when my love and passion for
the game of golf emerged full force.
At first I did not understand the meaning of playing golf at a
competitive level or the sacrifices that had to be made. I
eventually realized that if I wanted to compete at a high level, I
had to make the sacrifice, have the commitment, and show that I
can contribute to a team.
This year, at 15, I made the National team for my second straight
year. My focus was to have an impact on the course with my
game but above all contribute to my team overall score. I was
more focused on this goal and had a new perception as to what
being a team player meant.
Playing the 34th Caribbean Amateur Junior Championship:
I placed runner up in the individual of my division one stroke.
It is at this moment that I developed a passion to excel every time
I stepped into the golf course. Having a wining mindset has
propelled not only my game but my perspective of everything that
I do. Losing by one stroke taught me more than winning ever
could, this has helped me grow the most as a student athlete.
Learning from loses and mistakes is something I believe every
athlete needs to experience.
Golf has helped me grow as a person both in and out of the golf
course. After all, the experiences and the people that you meet
who share the same passion for the sport are incredible.
Knowing the value of teamwork, sacrifice and hard-work, I am
looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as
well as academically. I believe to be a hard working person as
well as having good work ethic, character, talent and leadership
skills to compete at the college level and to make an impact on
your team. I know that I have what it takes to compete and be a
leader on your team!
