Hi, my name is Julia and I’m from Canada. My initiation to golf was motivated by my father's interest in the sport roughly three years ago, but since then golf has truly become a passion.
I started playing golf more seriously and competing only two years ago. Given my late start competing, I had to play with girls that were better than me which was a great motivation, pushing me to get better and better every day. It motivated me to become a better golf player physically and mentally. I also had to face some defeats, but they only made me stronger. It influenced who I am; I'm able to overcome setbacks, stand up for myself and learn from it. I've also realized something about myself: when I want something and if I work hard enough and fight for it, I can achieve it.
In the last two summers I have been working at the golf club assisting the head coach with the young golfers’ summer camps. I also assisted him last summer in the lessons for the Golf Initiation program for new members. You will see that I’m also a really good team player. I really enjoy camaraderie and developing friendships. I have also been quite involved in school life, from being the student president of my school, to an active member of the prom committee, and a tutor for younger students.
You will find in me a student athlete that is organized and goal oriented while having a great work ethic.
In college, I want to find a good balance between both academics and athletics. I’m a motivated student that is keen to compete in the sport that I truly love while having the opportunity to attend a great business school. I’m always eager to learn and improve my game!
I can’t wait for the next golf season to start and to play in more tournaments. In the meantime, being in Canada, I am continuing to work on my swing with my coach indoors.
