At a young age, I was exposed to the game of golf as I watched my older brother and sister compete in local tournaments. As I watched their passion and excitement grow, I realized that I too wanted to take on the sport. As I grew older, I became more serious and committed to golf. I ceased playing local tournaments and started to play out of the city and state. As I played in these different tournaments I learned a lot about myself and the game of golf. I learned to be patient and to respect others. I learned to have confidence and to believe in myself because that is the only way to improve one’s skill; you have to believe that you have the ability to achieve greatness in order to strive for it. I learned responsibility and dedication as I reached for this goal.
When I became a freshman in high school, I was immensely excited to be playing on the team. I had the best teammates ever! During my freshman year I had a great season. I had two hole in ones and went to state as an individual. Even though I had a great season freshman year, I learned and developed more my sophomore year. During this year, I did not make it to state; I missed the cut by one stroke. I was devastated, but I learned to work harder and pledged to do better junior year. Learning to deal with that failure has made me a better player as I endeavor to become better.
Academics are extremely important to me. Graduating high school and being successful in college is one of my most imperative goals. My short-term goal in high school is to be able to graduate with a 4.0 GPA and to finish in the top 20 of my class. I would also like to score at a higher range on my ACT. Once in college, my goal is to stay dedicated, with good academics and multiple extracurricular, and to graduate with a 4.0 GPA.
