My name is Mattie Goad and I am a high school golfer. I started playing golf in 2020 when Covid-19 took away the other sports I liked to compete in. I played softball and soccer but once those were cancelled for the year I looked for something fun to get me out of the house and something I could do with my friends. My father played colligate golf at Tennessee Tech University, and had taught me some about the game but I never had been interested until 2020 my 8th grade year. It took me about a year to really get used to the game and want to get better. Before I started high school I made the tough decision to quit softball and soccer to devote all my time into golf. My freshman year of high school was the first time I shot in the 70s and I haven't looked back since. My sophomore year I shot in the 70s multiple times and won tournaments as a individual and with my team. I am a honors student and a member in the beta club I also am a manager for our high school girls basketball team. I get some type of practice or workout in for golf every day.
