Personal Statement

Hi my name is Katelyn Day. I am 17 years old and currently attending Davis High School in Kaysville Utah. Davis High is a 6A high school and we currently have 18 members on our team, and I consistently play in the top three spots on our team. In spring of 2017 our team finished first in region and third overall at state. I earned an honorable mention in all-state, and my game over the summer has continued to improve consistently. I played in the 2017 Utah Women's State Ameature, shooting an opening day score of 78. I feel like my game continues to improve, as well as my overall strength and mental fortitude.

Competing in the Utah Junior Golf Association these past three years has given me an opportunity to test my game and skills in a competitive environment. Being a part of such an excellent organization has developed within me a passion and love for the game that I want to peruse full time along with maintaining my academic GPA of a 4.0. I feel this commitment to focus solely on golf and school will enable me to reach my full potential. I am excited to begin this golf season. Through hard work and practice I hope to meet my goal of consistently shooting in the 70’s.

I have spent seven years ballroom dancing, two of which have included being on the Brigham Young University Dancesport nationally ranked team, and winning the championship in 2016. Learning how to win as a team and as an individual has given me the confidence and ability to compete and perform under pressure. Although it was hard to leave such an elite program in order for me to achieve my full potential in golf, it taught me the importance of hard work, dedication, and accountability. I feel fortunate to have had this opportunity and experience in my life, and I know the lessons I have learned will greatly help me in my pursuit to play collegiate golf.
