My name is Grace Donahue. I am a junior at Park City High School. Growing up I have always played several sports, but golf has become my passion. I have competed in various Utah junior golf tournaments the last two years and played for the Park City High School Varsity team earning 2nd Team All State honors both freshman and sophomore years. As a sophomore, this past season, I finished third individually in region play. I love the combination of a team sport along with an individual focus. I treasure the awards of "Best Attitude" and "Best Teammate" that I have received along with the team's accomplishment of finishing 2nd in our state tournament my first two seasons. I am very focused on improving by working hard each and every week on all of the elements of the game. My academic studies are always my first priority and I would love the opportunity to play golf at a college or university with high academic standards. Finding a school that can provide an outstanding education while having an opportunity to compete against other student athletes is a goal that I have set my sights on accomplishing.
Thus far through high school I have maintained a 3.94 GPA. Currently I am enrolled in multiple honors and AP classes, as well as multiple extracurricular clubs at my high school. One of these clubs is the National Honor Society in which I volunteer with different organizations in Park City. I participated in a service trip to Peru this past summer to help those less fortunate which was incredibly rewarding. Academics and service are very important to me and I will always work hard to keep my grades up.
In addition to golf, I have played both competitive club soccer and high school soccer as well as competed in mogul skiing for several years. I was nationally ranked in moguls in 2015 and 2016 but have since chosen to step away from competition now to just ski just for fun. The skills I have learned from soccer and skiing have helped me to both focus on improving my individual skills as well as thriving and competing in a team environment. From mogul skiing, I learned perseverance --- how to get back up after a fall or bad run and keep going with my head held high. Through soccer, I have learned how to work well as part of a team and how to be supportive and positive, even in losing situations. I feel that both of these sports provided me with life skills that will clearly apply to golf at the college level.
I look forward to the journey of finding the right athletic and academic school for me.
