Personal Statement

My name is Grace Metcalf and I am a Junior at Arlington High School in Arlington, WA (2022).

I plan on majoring in Business Administration with an option of Marketing. Education is important to myself and my family and I am excited to work towards my future career. Secondly, I would LOVE to play golf at the university level, and I feel like I would be a great member to complement any golf team. I am looking forward to taking my golf game to the next level and I am ready to do whatever it takes to compete on a collegiate team.

I have been playing competitive golf for over 5 years, and I have continued to improve every year. My childhood life consisted of balancing basketball, volleyball, and golf. However, after my Freshman year in high school, I made a full commitment to golf, as it became clearer it was my passion. Now my entire focus is on earning a spot on a college golf team.

My greatest strengths on the golf course are my ball striking, calm demeanor and ability to never give up. I am continually trying to improve by practicing hard at Skagit Golf & Country Club. I have been fortunate to work with many great instructors and mentors, including Craig Welty, who is the head Professional at Skagit and also works with tour professionals, and Kelli Kamimura, head women’s golf coach at Washington State University. I have been consistently shooting in the low 80’s, but recently broke through to shoot several scores in the upper 70’s. I am very proud of this accomplishment especially considering the conditions we had to play in this winter in the Pacific NW. I worked hard this winter to get my scores lower, and I am confident this trend will continue.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
