My name is Mikayla Blumer. I am currently a senior at Timberline High School in Lacey, WA. I started playing golf in March 2012. I became a part of Timberline Women's Golf team in 2012. As a freshman, I was #3 on Varsity, sophomore year I was #1 or #2 on Varsity, junior year I was #1 on Varsity and captain. As a senior, I was voted to be captain this year, as well. My grandfather used to take me to the golf course as a child and I would watch as he played. My father currently plays in many golf tournaments for his local Men's Club at Tumwater Valley GC. He has been my main inspiration to take up the game of golf. I played Women's Basketball for Timberline my freshman year (2011-2012) on the Freshman Team.
I would like to attend college to major in Psychology to help with my possible future career as a FBI Agent, working for the BAU (Behavioral Analysis Unit). I have volunteered with a few police departments in my area to learn about Criminal Justice and the aspects of that career. I am currently enrolled in Running Start for the 2014-2015 school year, a program allowing juniors and seniors to take college classes to count towards two years of college, allowing the student to potentially graduate high school with not only their diploma but also their Associate of Arts (AA) Degree.
This coming up 2015 golf season, our school will no longer be a part of the 3A division. Timberline High School will now be part of the 4A division in the Narrows League.
In 2014, Timberline Women’s Golf team won Narrows League again, staying undefeated in league matches. I competed in the Narrows League Tournament at Lake Spanaway on May 13-14, 2014 to defend my title as League Champion from 2013 but unfortunately lost by one stroke. On the first day, I shot a 92, making me four strokes behind the leader. The second day, I came back and shot an 85 which was my best 18 hole round. The 3A Girls State Tournament was held on May 28-29 at Lewis-River GC in Woodland, WA. Unfortunately, I didn't play to my potential which cost me moving onto the second day. As captain, it was a great opportunity to lead my team in an undefeated season and see the growth in everyone on the team.
In 2013, we got 2nd place in Narrows League. On May 6th and May 8th, the Timberline Women's Golf Team competed in the Narrows League Tournament at Lake Spanaway. On the first day, I shot an 89 & the second day I shot a 92: with a total of 181, I received Medalist at the 3A Women's Narrows League Golf Tournament. Winning 1st place at the Narrows League Tournament qualified me for the State Tournament on May 21st and 22nd at Lewis-River GC in Woodland, WA. I did not make the cut for the second day of the State Tournament but it was a great experience. At the end of the 2013 Golf Season, I was nominated MVP and I was nominated as Captain.
In 2012, Timberline Women's Golf team won Narrows League, staying undefeated all season. About a week after that, we won Narrows League Tournament at Lake Spanaway GC. Although I did not attend Timberline High School for the 2011 Women's Golf Season, they had also won Narrows League and the Narrows League Tournament allowing the 2012 Women's Golf Team to hold both of these titles for 2 years in a row.
