Mia Bontrager '24 Recruiting Profile

I have committed to play golf for Southern Oregon University in the Fall of 2024 

My name is Mia Bontrager and I attend  Mt. Spokane High school in Mead Washington, Class of 2024 . I'm a multi sport varsity athlete in both Volleyball and Golf since my freshman year. My perseverance and enthusiasm is also portrayed in my grades.  I carry a 3.97 gpa and take AP classes and advanced courses. 

I am beyond excited for what my future holds and my opportunities to play college golf. For the last 5 years I have been playing club volleyball most of the year with less focus on golf. Even with less focus I have managed to have a 77.2 scoring average and lowered my GHIN from a 11.5 down to 1.5 in 2 years. I believe being a multi sport athlete has allowed me to excel in the sport of golf. This year I was 32 out of a 150 girls at Washington State 3A Championships . I know I haven't even came close to my reaching my full potential in golf. I also feel I could make an immediate impact at the collegiate level on any team.  

I am interested in Business and Marketing, I have competed at the state level in DECA which is a Business Marketing competition . I am currently almost a year ahead in credits due to my advanced classes in middle school. I'm a member of the National Honor Society and manage the student store. 

During the time I have off I work with Junior golfers at the David Fern Academy of Golf.  (Head Whitworth University  Women's Coach) I help organize, run tournaments, assist with small groups and mentor the girls classes. 

I am beyond excited for what my future holds and my opportunities to play college golf. My goal for college is to grow spiritually, socially and academically.
