Recreational classes were the very beginning of how I discovered gymnastics, at the age of 11. I escalated very quickly when the gym owner saw potential in me and wanted me on their competitive team, even though I was old. At first, I was unsure of what I would be doing since I had never competed before and everything was very fresh to me. But what I was sure of was this: Ever since I entered those gym doors for the first time and took my first gymnastics class, I've never wanted to walk out of them. Although it has been hard to learn this sport, as I started very late it’s something that I have been dedicated to and consistent with ever since I started. Performing and training is something that brings me joy in doing, in the good days and the bad days too. I believe this is an area of my life that I wish I could keep forever. This is why I would like to extend my years in gymnastics through college and adulthood, as I missed out on an entire childhood. The question of where I would be if I started gymnastics earlier haunts me, but there’s nothing I can do about it now. Instead, I want to keep working hard towards achieving my dreams of becoming a successful college gymnast through the passion I am grateful to have found.
