I have been doing gymnastics since I was six years old. Even before officially starting gymnastics, I was doing cartwheels, handstands and flipping around the house. I fell in love with the sport the very first class I took. I aspire to compete gymnastics at the college level and be part of a gymnastics team. I look forward to the opportunity to not only compete and help the team be successful but for the camaraderie being part of a team brings. I am from a small gym and for the past several years have competed solo as I was the only team member at my level. I always love going to competitions and cheering on the other gymnasts in my rotation. Watching other gymnastic teams during competitions and at the college level supporting each other and cheering the team on is what I have missed since moving on from the compulsory levels and is an important piece of being a team.
Bars are my favorite event, although I am very strong on beam and floor. I not only competed in gymnastics but also dance, which really helps elevate my dance especially on floor. In fact, I placed third at Easterns on floor and was a Florida state champion as well. I love learning new skills, working hard and pushing myself to be the best gymnast I can be. Learning and applying corrections from my coaches has really helped me. I am very excited to work with new coaches and continue to learn and grow with them and the team. The ability to continue my passion and contribute to reaching the team goals is my dream.
I have taken honors and aice classes throughout middle school and high school. I will also be starting dual enrollment classes in the fall. My middle school was a K8 so they had their own honor society, which I was a part of. Maintaining my grades as well as competing in sports has always been important to me. I would like to become a nurse or possibly a physician and being part of the health science program at my high school has driven me even further towards that goal.
I am open to all college options that will allow me to achieve my academic and athletic goals.
