Personal Statement
I remember hearing someone say, quote, "God created us on purpose for a purpose." Having stated that, I think sports are my mission. My passion for sports peaked when I was a baby. I've always loved gymnastics, but I wasn't aware that I was born with many physical abilities that needed improvement. I became interested in a variety of sports only for the rush and the belief that, with enough effort, I might excel at them. The groundwork established in those formative years has been essential in shaping my academic mindset. Gymnastics have never been just a sport to me, it's an exciting journey of strength, flexibility, and unshakable determination. At the age of 2, my love for gymnastics started to grow, and others started to notice that in addition to my natural talent to perform feats that others could not, I also had a strong passion for the sport. To add, my father was also one of the best gymnast in Nassau and I believe that I got my skills from him. From the moment I first stepped onto the mat, the challenge of mastering flips, twists, and gravity-defying stunts beckoned to me. The parallel bars, balance beam, and vault became my canvases for self-expression. My first day of gymnastics amazed everyone as they immediately inserted me in level 2. As I grew older I realized that, the pursuit of perfection in gymnastics isn't merely about executing flawless routines; it's a commitment to pushing my body to its limits, embracing the bruises and setbacks as stepping stones towards greater feats. So, very soon I went from “don’t mess up the older girls are watching” to "don't mess up the younger girls are watching”.
