Let me introduce myself, I am Phenix, a high school junior attending James Caldwell Highschool, attaining a 3.9 GPA. I have over 20+ hours of volunteering and service, my most meaningful service project is being a hospital volunteer. I liked putting a smile on elderly patients' faces by making self-care kits and spending time with them. I also liked packaging food for families because it gave them a healthy meal to eat, the food was then distributed and given to families in need. I know that by doing so I am able to feed multiple families with home-cooked meals on most holidays. I plan to further explore my studies in the science field once I am in college. I am a high-level gymnast who trains 20+ hours a week, however, I still achieve high honor roll. I influence my teammates to stay positive and work diligently in the gym and in school. I take pride in being a student-athlete because the "student'" comes first and then the athlete. The more I excel in school the easier it is to excel in gymnastics. Receiving A's in school and championships in gymnastics is a great combination of success.
Gymnastics has been a positive uplifting impact on my life, ever since I was 3 swinging on the edges of my grandparent's table. My education is key to being successful in life; however being a successful gymnast and getting a gymnastics scholarship is one of my biggest dreams and goals, that I truly hope to achieve. I have a fiery passion for gymnastics that ignites every time I compete. Just like my name Phenix, I am determined to rise and help my team in any way I can. I am very easy-going and supportive. As a upperclassmen I make sure that I am a positive role model to my younger teammates and a model student at school. I have a very athletic family who loves the competitiveness of sports, as well as being fellow collegiate athletes themselves. My favorite event is the uneven bars and it is my goal to get a scholarship on bars and become a swinger and hopefully compete in all 4 events as well. When I catch the bars I just feel like I am flying right through them and everything else just disappears except for my skills and my passion. The uneven bars is super exciting to watch, as you see gymnast swinging from bar to bar and making fast changes to the various amounts of skills. Ever since I was little I fell in love with the uneven bars and then my goal surged to the top of my head; I am going to be a consistent anchor as a collegiate swinger for my team. Being a gymnast creates self-pride, determination, and discipline to go out and perform while being your best. My motto to all of my fellow teammates is to strive to have a great day and an even better tomorrow. I strongly feel that I can bridge the gap left by your graduating seniors.
