Personal Statement

I have many interests; however, I pride myself on being an athlete first and playing numerous sports at a highly competitive level. I started skating at the age of three, and my love for hockey grows every year. I have the passion and desire to play at the NCAA & USport level and nationally for Team Canada. I have had great support from my family throughout my hockey career, and many great coaches from Initiation through to the CSSHL. Each coach uniquely saw the game, adjusting my game and pushing me to improve in new and different ways.

I contribute my success in hockey thus far to a strong work ethic, my ability to learn and apply new concepts quickly, a growing hockey IQ, great coaching, and a supportive family.

Outside of hockey, my next greatest passion in sport is competitive swimming. I have had great success at both the Regional and Provincial levels in various swim meets. In addition, I have just completed my Bronze Cross & Medallion courses through the Lifesaving Society. I also play competitive soccer, school basketball, volleyball, and track. I understand the benefit of being a multi-sport athlete and the essential additional skills it develops, including time management, teamwork, leadership, and most importantly, developing lifetime friendships. I believe in the importance of balance between on and off-ice workout routines. Therefore, I have a structured weekly dry-land training routine.

Regardless of my athletic accomplishments, my academics are a top priority. I plan to pursue a career in Medicine, which is high on my list of personal achievements. I am searching for a robust program that will help me achieve both my academic and athletic goals. I believe my work ethic, positive attitude, and drive to succeed will positively impact any hockey or educational program at the NCAA & USport level.

I appreciate your time reviewing my statement and your willingness to get to know me on a deeper level. I hope you get a sense of my values, goals, and what is essential to me.

Sincerely

Anjali Simms

By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
