My name is Natalia Etter. I am 16 years old and I will graduate from Fremont High School (Sunnyvale, California) in 2020. I grew up in Switzerland and started playing hockey there at the age of two along with soccer at the age of four. On most weekends, I played soccer and hockey one after the other, sometimes on the same day. It was intense but I loved every second of it. However, after nine years of playing soccer, I decided that it wasn’t for me anymore and hockey was what I really wanted to do.
I moved to America at the age of thirteen and continued to play hockey here with the San Jose Jr. Sharks. I have been playing for the San Jose Jr Sharks for the past 4 seasons, during that time I have skated for the 14U/16U/19U teams in the Tier I & II levels. This current season I am skating for the Jr Sharks 19U Tier II team, we will be competing in the 2018 Pacific Championships in March 2018, with hopes of earning our spot at the 2018 USA Hockey National Championship tournament in Boston, MA April 2018. My primary position is wing, but over the years my coaches have had me learn other positions such as center and defense at times. I am continually trying to improve my game of hockey as player and student of the game.
During my eighth grade year I was a part of a leadership class called WEB. Students in the class had to complete 10 hours + of community service every trimester. During those times I used to help out the neighborhood community center and my church.
I am a fluent French speaker which led me to take French 4 Honors my Freshman year and I will be taking AP French Sophomore year. I was a part of French Club and a club called FHS SOL which was all about tutoring middle school students. Three times a week after school, I was helping students from grades six to eight complete their homework and get better at reading and math.
Although I am not one hundred percent sure yet, I am currently looking to study Psychology. For the moment, I do not know exactly what I am looking for in terms of colleges. I will stay open to any school that will offer me college hockey and the major I am looking for until I can narrow it down more.
