I have been playing ice hockey since I was twelve years old. I stepped on the ice as a figure skater, but I transitioned into hockey and I was aspired to play at the collegiate level. Playing in college is an opportunity that I would not want to miss out on and it could change my future life.
My very first season, I played with the Redwood City Black Stars Bantam B team. I was one of the few girls in the whole league. Though I just started, I was nominated as team captain. Being a captain, I have learned many things about having a leadership role and I use that to be helpful to others in my community.
I have also been nominated to be in the Leadership Committee on my High School team during 2017-2018. I have played on High School Varsity for 2 years during 2016-2018.
Throughout the seasons, I have played against many teams. I have gone to tryouts for girls teams, but I have been put on the AAA teams. Though being in a girls AAA team may have given me more chances to be scouted, I chose to be with the boys to become a better skater and improve with the speed and strength they have. Because of the tryouts, I have been invited to play on the San Jose Jr. Sharks Girls AAA and the Tri-Valley Blue Devils Girls AAA teams.
In the classroom, I study hard and maintain a high GPA. I help out others in the class so that they are passing the year and I make sure that they are on task. I am currently a member of our school's student senate, math club, and debate club.
I volunteer at my local ice rink, Nazareth Ice Oasis, as an assistant coach, score keeper, front desk manager, and cash register for the grill upstairs. Another place I volunteer is at Healthy Cities Tutoring to help children in lower grades to be able to understand the work they are learning.
I want to attend a college where I can learn to be someone who is able to help others in my future career. I am open to all options, but I prefer to find the right college match at the highest level of competition possible, while pursuing my dream careers. I hope to become a great role model to all my peers and to support my parents with finance in the near future.
