Personal Statement

Hi, I am Cate, I have been playing hockey ever since I was 4. I have known my goals ever since I was a little girl to play college hockey.  Every decision I make now helps me to reach these goals. I am a natural-born leader always helping improve myself and others.  Once I set my sights on something I don't stop until I accomplish that goal. I never pass up a challenge and I am constantly pushing myself to do better; because if there is a will, there is a way.  I have a high competitive drive and grit factor these helped me get selected to go to the U15 USA Hockey National Camp. Playing in the Nepsac league for the Pomfret School in Connecticut challenges me athletically and has helped improve my game. I also play U19-1 half-season with the MA Spitfires.

My athleticism is one of my greatest strengths I have the ability to make saves that other goalies wouldn't. Also playing three sports, two of which are not hockey, helps keep me in shape and allows me to push myself in different ways. An option I have considered is playing field hockey as well as ice hockey in college. In school, I try my hardest to do the best I can by staying after for extra help and asking lots of questions. My hobbies outside of sports are painting and drawing, yoga, rock climbing, community service, and hanging out with my friends and family. I believe the mental side to hockey is as equally important as the physical side. which is why I meditate regularly and visualize before each game. I know to not let goals drag me down during a game but to put them behind me and move forward.  I am a hardworking, passionate, and confident goalie and person. I love hockey so much and am so thankful for all the opportunities that it has given me and for all of the lessons I have learned through it. Looking forward to college I am excited to find a school that is right for me both athletically and academically.
