Who am I? That question is deceivingly simple and I cannot provide an answer through words. I can only tell my truth and let others decide what that means to them. I can say this much: I've gotten to where I am because I am a hardworking, resilient, and diligent player. I joined hockey when I was 12 years old and fell in love with the sport. From there on out I strived to make up for my lack of experience and become the best player I could. Now, at 17, I am one of two girls on the Penn High School Hockey team and have earned a spot on the JV team. I found personal growth in hockey and overcame the struggles that being a female player in a male-dominated sport presents. I am a part of the Early College Academy Program at Penn High School and have maintained a balance between hockey and school. As part of the ECA Program, I take college-level courses and am on track to receive an Associate Degree from Ivy Tech Community College upon my high school graduation. I try to delegate my time to the things I value because I want to give my full attention and effort to what I do. I would rather invest myself in something fully than spread myself thin. I play, learn, and work because I find genuine passion in what I do. College has always been a tricky subject for me, I have always intended to attend college but am undecided in what I want to study. I am open-minded about college and hope to study something I enjoy while dedicating time to playing a sport I love. For me, college hockey is about the experience and I do not plan on playing hockey as a career. Life is dynamic, so why should I provide a static answer? Changes are bound to happen and this statement only gives you a glimpse of who I am.
