Personal Statement
Ashley Kubic Height: 5'8" Weight:145 lbs Position: defence I am currently playing with the Winnipeg AAA Ice Female Midget Hockey team. I have completed my season with the Marauders Female AA Midget team. During my hockey season I incorporated dryland training 2 days a week. This summer I trained 4 days a week off ice and 2 days a week on ice with a personal trainer from NRG Athletes Fitness center. I am also attended a five day defensemen camp with Chris St. Croix. Previously, I played for 2 years on the AA Bantam Selkirk Female Fishermen, helping my team to the city finals with a strong defensive game. I have played AA;on the boys;Fishermen helping our team to the City Championship where we lost in Game 7. My coach had said that I was the best defenseman for that series, as I started out as a forward and was asked to play defence early in the season; improved to the point where I played on the penalty kill in playoffs and was voted most improved player for the season. Many of my coaches say that I have good speed, see the ice well, and am a great playmaker because I always play a heads up game. I am a strong physical player who likes to set the tone early in the game;hard to knock off the puck, and used on the power play and penalty kill which; has proven very successful. I feel that I can help your team with a strong defensive game moving the puck up ice, containing the other team in their zone, while contributing offensively as well. I am currently Assistant Captain of my team. My coach has indicated to me that I am a great leader on and off the ice; I always have a positive attitude toward my team mates and encourage them to never quit or give up. My coaches often express the fact that I have a very good and analytical hockey mind. I have no problem understanding and adapting to new systems, but most of all I am a Team Player. I am currently in grade 11, I have completed my grade 10 year at Lord Selkirk Regional Secondary High School with a 97% average. For grades 5-9 I attended East Selkirk Middle School, where I have earned honours with distinction receiving the academic award for highest mark in those grades with an average of 95% or higher. My goal is to receive a sports and/or academic scholarship to a university and persue a career in medicine. I would like to thank you in advance for reviewing my profile, hopefully I will be a future member of your program.
