Personal Statement
I am an elite center/winger that plays for Calgary Fire Red U18 AAA this year as a 15 year-old. (2008) I was the last player released from the Calgary Fire U18 AAA team.
I am a big (5’10’’) physical player who plays right wing for the Fire. I am on the power play and kill penalties. I am at my best when i am on the wall winning board battles it is hard to take the puck away from me. I am one of the few players that will ALWAYS go to the front of the net and stay there! I have a very hard and accurate shot.
I led our team in scoring during the Firestarter Tournament in Calgary this fall.
I have 2 league goals thus far and 6 overall so far this season. I am 3rd on our team in goals. A unique skill I have is shootouts - I scored on a penalty shot already this year (see latest video) I am working hard on my skating to improve my speed and agility - I know it is what I have to work on. What sets me apart is my size, my fierce determination, and my physical play. I love to use my body to check, create space for myself and my teammates, and to turn pucks over. I love the game of hockey and always put forth 100% effort both on the ice but also off the ice (Bouka Performance Training). I was an Assistant Captain on my team last year in U 15 and cherished the leadership role.
Last fall I was selected to play at the U15 Alberta Challenge Cup. I received a player of the game award and we won the bronze medal. I was also picked up by Coach Domenic Pittis of St. Mary’s High School in California to play in the Beantown Classic last summer. It was good to see what the competition is like out east and it has pushed me to do more to get better and make a bigger impact.
I have been privileged to be exposed to high level coaches the last several years to help me develop a good sense of the game and create some of my strongest assets. I have worked very hard off the ice (strength training) to improve skating speed and agility and have also worked a lot with Sven Wield (power skating) on the ice. I spend hours on my home shooting pad improving accuracy and puck handling. I am currently enrolled in the Hockey Canada Skills Academy at All Saints High School. I am one of only 2 girls in the program and I love the challenge of competing against the boys.
My ultimate goal is to receive a hockey scholarship so I can continue to play the game I love. II am an Honour Roll student and hope to pursue a degree in either Business, Education or possibly Broadcasting.
Thanks for your time - Izzy Luttmerding
