Reyna Radhakrishnan '26 Recruiting Profile

I am an 18-year-old wing/center playing for the Connecticut Jr. Rangers.  I started hockey later than most - when I was in 6th grade.  For the first 3 season I played for Lexington, KY. Then I progressed to Cincinnati (2 years), Indianapolis (2 years), and now with the Rangers. I have been with the Rangers for two season. Our inaugural 19U season was 2024-25, and I was an alternate captain last year and am again this season.

I love forechecking, backchecking, and pressuring the defense into mistakes and turnovers. I also enjoy playing on our penalty-kill line. My primary attributes are coachability, positive attitude, and making the right play at the right time to create opportunities for our team. Historically I played RW or LW, but this season coach has put me at center multiple times. While still getting the hang of it, coach wants to use my energy and speed at center. I like playing all 3 forward positions, and switching between them is a lot of fun. My shifts are strategic - we earn a number of power plays during my shifts, which often result in goals. Also, we tend score right at the end of my shift at least once a game. I am disruptive to the other team’s flow with intense forechecking and backchecking (I basically try to create chaos in their defensive zone). It seems to be effective and I love doing it because the team benefits. Even though my +/- is commonly 0 for a game, we seem to average 1-2 goals/game that coincide with the timing of my shifts.

I do additional training outside of our normal practice and workout schedule including private ice session for stick handling and shooting. 

I also played lacrosse for my high school and admit that I joined the team to maintain fitness, cross train, and improve hand-eye coordination for hockey. I enjoy lacrosse but LOVE hockey.

Academically, I graduated in May of 2025 from Lafayette Senior High School (Lexington, KY) with a focus in the School for Creative and Performing Arts (SCAPA) - creative writing division.  I am passionate about creative writing. I have received some awards for my writing, mostly in poetry, and am also writing a novel about women in hockey.  In addition to playing hockey in college, I plan to pursue a degree in English/Creative Writing and Education. I want to represent my school with a strong team spirit and high academic performance, with the goal ultimately of teaching English and Creative Writing along with coaching hockey.

For my PG year, I am working on my book, will do a research project with a graduate student, and am also volunteering for an elementary school through the Carver Center in Stamford, CT.
