I am a 17 year old athlete from Barkhamsted, Connecticut. While attending school at Northwestern Regional 7, I managed to earn a spot on the varsity team both my Freshman and Sophomore years. I also managed to get myself recruited to Kents Hill School, a prep school in Maine, for the rest of my high school education. When I began my career at Kents Hill, I realized what path I wanted to take in college; I want to take my skills to the next level and study Sports Management.
What makes me different than your typical applicant is how I carry myself and help others. Many people believe that being part of a team is being an individual with interactions with your teammates. However, being part of a team to me is communicating differently with your team. For example; when a teammate gets hurt or is unable to play, I'm the first to get there when they fall, to support them in any way I can. This also means that bonding with your team is extremely important. I'm the type of teammate to invite everyone to a function, to be the first person to ask to meet up, and the first person to answer when someone wants to go out. I carry myself by supporting others not only as a teammate but as a classmate too. No matter if I am extremely good at a subject or extremely bad at a subject, I try and find ways to help people in any way I can. As important as it is to be a team player, it is just as important to take care of yourself. This means that I also see myself as independent and hardworking, I'm the teammate you always see on the ice, in the gym, or in the library. I'm the teammate you see getting to the rink early to get mentally prepared, and the last person off the ice. I believe manners are always important in sports so I always shake the coach's hands before and after the game and thanking the refs after every game.
