Hi,
My name is Sarah-Maude Richard, I'm a 17 years old goaltender who played for the Kents Hill Huskies prep school last season. My goals is to play at the best level possible at my ages group (AAA program or good Prep school) and after I graduate is playing College hockey and I’ll do everything possible as a player and as a student to achieve my goal.
This year was my second year at Kents Hill Prep School (Maine). Since our team are in a major rebuilding process and I have been quite busy in the net. I was in the net in roughly for 60% of the games and I was averaging around 42 saves per game, which for some of them of them I’ve been awarded the game MVP. I also won the most sportsmanship award at the end of the season.
Last summer, I also participated at the Team New-Brunswick camp and made it to the last cut. That ranks me in the top 3 U18 goalies of the province.
On the academic side, so far this year I carry a 3.7 GPA, I was inducted to the National Honor society, and I was awarded the Cameron Dow Scholarship awarded which is, dedicated to one junior student who has distinguished themselves through community involvement, leadership opportunities and academic standing. I was also the recipient of the Smith College Book award which is awarded to a young women in a junior class who exemplifies academic achievement, leadership and a concern for others.
In the 2021-2022 school year, I was the recipient of the; Glen Dana Academic Award; which is an award for Academic and Athletic promising, Respect for Others and a Zest for Life.
I also had a good advisor letter with many positive comments from the advisor, proctors teachers and my coaches. That letter is attach to my profile.
To describe me as a player, I would say that I’m a hard worker, I give everything I have on and off the ice to be at my best every time I step on the ice. I also have good work ethic, I am good under pressure, consistent, dedicated, fierce competitor, a good team player with a good attitude and I never give up.
I also made many good friends over my years in hockey. I think that being a good teammate and a good person is as much important as being a good player
For my athletic skills as a goaltender, I am a butterfly goaltender with good positioning, agility; good rebound control, quickness and being good under pressure are some of my strengths. I also keep myself in good shape by training hard on and off the ice, during the season and off-season also.
The season before, I played U-18 AAA major as an underage player. We were the youngest team in the league and even if we struggled as a team, it was a good year for my development. The lowest number of shots received in a game that year was 38 I think, usually, it was around 45 +. However, it helped me a lot to grow as a player at my game and also mentally. We have to work hard every second of the season on and off the ice. I was also a Covid year, so it was somewhat hard as a team because we were like over a month without touching the ice. However, as I said before, I grew a lot as a player during that year.
Prior to that season, I played Bantam AAA female with the Northern Panthers. The team had a good season. We made the semi-final at the DQ open tournament and the final game at the sweetheart Atlantic tournament in PEI.
Personally, I have very good rookie season. I was solid all season long and have my good share on team success. I also had MVP in the Sweetheart tournament quarter-final with a 37 saves shutout. I also had very good feedback from my coaches and also coaches from other teams, during my year.
I played one-year AA level and one AAA at my Pee Wee years with the boys. I did win some tournament game MVP'S awards those years too, also at the AA provincial tournament.
I played Atom AA with during my second atom year we won the league championship and got some tournament game MVP.
Do not hesitate to contact my references for validation if you need it.
Thanks
Sarah-Maude
