My name is Lauren Hernick, I am a fourteen-year-old goaltender, and it has been my dream since I first started playing hockey back in 2011 to one-day play college-level hockey. A couple of seasons ago, I broke my wrist snowboarding, doctors said it would take about five months before I could get back on the ice, but that did not stop me. I found ways to stay conditioned for the season and even worked out a way to skate again in my goalkeeping equipment without hindering the recovery process. Eventually, due to my hard work and determination to get back on the ice, I ended up being able to start playing again close to two months before the prior estimate. Along with work ethic, I also strive hard to do well in all of my classes. During the past ten years of schooling, I have maintained at least a 3.5 GPA at all times. Additionally, I have experience playing for teams both on the winning and losing sides. From that, I have learned how to keep a good positive attitude at all times; and how to be a supportive and encouraging teammate so that as a whole, we play the best hockey we can.
