Dear Coaches:
My aspiration to become a student-athlete revolves around the unique opportunity that will be presented.
I look forward to the opportunity to challenge myself and my teammates to perform at our highest levels competing for league titles as well as a chance to pursue national championships. In addition, the student-athlete experience will allow for community interactions and becoming a role model for younger kids. Also, student-athletes will be expected to learn and practice life skills such as being an ambassador for their team/school, time management, discipline, communication, and travel, all areas I look forward to.
My coaches have described my style of play as relentless on the puck, effective use of my speed and quickness to gain body positioning and puck possession, a quick-release slap shot, as well as a setup specialist on breakouts and in the offensive zone.
Exiting college, I expect to have had a positive impact on my school, team, and community. The student-athlete experiences provided a solid foundation to be a well-rounded person and ready to contribute in a service orientated career such as a health care provider and/or an Officer in the United States Marine Corps.
I was fortunate enough to take the Clifton Strengthsfinder Assessment and discovered my personal strengths. The strengths are listed below in order.
1. Positivity- "You are generous with praise, quick to smile, and always on the lookout for the positive in the situation. Some call you lighthearted."
2. Includer- "You want to include people and make them feel part of the group. In direct contrast to those who are drawn only to exclusive groups, you actively avoid those groups that exclude others."
3. Woo- "Woo stands for winning others over. You enjoy the challenge of meeting new people and getting them to like you. Strangers are rarely intimidating to you."
4. Self-Assurance- "Self-Assurance is similar to self-confidence. In the deepest part of you, you have faith in your strengths. You know that you are able -- able to take risks, able to meet new challenges, able to stake claims, and, most important, able to deliver."
5. Developer- "You see the potential in others. Very often, in fact, potential is all you see. In your view no individual is fully formed. On the contrary, each individual is a work in progress, alive with possibilities."

I am learning more about these strengths every day and applying them to daily interactions with others.
*One of my favorite quotes- "If at first you don't succeed, fix your ponytail and try again"-unknown
Thank you for your time and consideration.
