Doing well in school, and getting good grades are very important to me. In order to have the opportunity to attend a good college, I need to be strong academically. Having fun in school not only provides the ability to enjoy the hard work, it also enables me to build strong relationships with friends, and teachers in a good learning environment. I work hard at school, as I know the role it will play in my future success. I work hard to finish homework, and complete projects in a timely manner, while staying in communication with teachers to ensure my questions are answered. The motivation, and sense of accomplishment when recognized academically is key to feeling successful. That is what drives me.
When asked to describe my family, supportive and strong work ethic come to mind. I think of my sister, who is 8 years older than me. Not only does she excel in sports, she excels in the classroom. You could say she is my inspiration when it comes to school, and athletics. She is currently a college student, studying to be an orthopedic surgeon. My parents, my biggest support system. They get me to, and from where I need to be, always available to lend an ear if I need to talk to someone, and continually push me to be the best version of myself, while never losing sight of what’s important. I am fortunate to have two parents that believe in me, know my capabilities, and love me unconditionally. My mom is outgoing, and pushes me to build my confidence. Teaching me to be comfortable, with being uncomfortable. This is how I will grow. My father is a hard worker, and has high expectations. You could say this is where my strong work ethic comes from. He pushes me to do my best in whatever it is I do. School, sports, or just being myself, and building character. For them, I am thankful.
When it comes to the ice, one of my favorite compliments from my coach is that I am smooth. Fast & concise. Speed has been a gift for me, and I work hard to continuously build endurance. I am dependable, and reliable. 100% effort, each and every shift. I want to be the teammate that others want by their side. The teammate that is approachable, respectful, and welcoming.
I am competitive, yet unselfish. Determined to help our team in any way possible. I demonstrate leadership by supporting my coaches' decisions and/or vision, staying positive, and learning from my mistakes. I may not be able to control a situation or circumstance, but I can control how I react. Most importantly, I am a friend who will do what I can to bring a smile to your face, and have fun.
