Hi Coaches!
I'm Ashley, a 2022 goalie. I started playing goalie when I was 9, and I've known I wanted to play college hockey since I was 11. I have always been an aggressive goalie, something many coaches have complemented me on. Being aggressive helps with how small I am, it helps me look larger in the net to shooters. Another thing coaches have complemented me on is my coachability. I know my coaches have more experience than I do, and anything they say is only said to improve my hockey skills. One last thing I get complemented on a lot is my speed. I have always been one of the quicker goalies on the teams I play on. Playing multiple sports when I was younger has helped improve my speed and reaction time.
This spring, I won the USAH National Championships with my fall team. I let in 2 goals the entire tournament, which was 5 games. I split each game halfway through with the other goalie, so we both played in all 5 games.
Academically I am driven. I took AP classes my freshman year, and starting this year (junior year) I am taking PSEO classes at Anoka Ramsey Community College. Currently half of my classes are through a college, and I will be doing PSEO classes next year as a senior. This spring I also took my ACT. My overall score was a 29..
In college, I plan on being a top goalie for either a D1 or D3 team. I am willing to put in the extra work to make myself better, and I have already been putting in the extra work. In the morning I wake up at 4:30am to get a workout in before school, and before hockey I would go out on the ice at least a half hour early to work on footwork. I also treat every practice like a game, warming up both my body and my eyes. Not only am I driven in academics, I am also driven in athletics. I have a goal of playing hockey beyond college, and I will do whatever it takes to get there.
You want me on your college team because I am such a versatile player. Any role on your team I will play, meaning if your team needs a quiet leader, I can be a quiet leader. If your team needs someone to be vocal and loud, I can yell pretty loud. One thing about me that is not versatile is my work ethic. I can promise you that I will always show up to practice or workouts ready to work my butt off. My hard work ethic makes me a great addition to any team.
