My passion for ice hockey began at age 6 with a white lie and a bit of trickery. I waited until my Mom was at work, told my Dad I forgot my figure skates at home, and talked him into renting me a pair of ice hockey skates. I then approached Coach Pete, the youth hockey director of the Red Bank Generals and declared I was ready to try out for ice hockey. I passed the test with flying colors, despite having never before worn hockey skates and I never looked back! Since that time my goal has been to bring my hockey skills and game play to the highest level. I have excellent skating skills, speed, agility, hockey smarts and a great vision of the ice. I am a team player who is exceedingly coach-able as I always strive to make my teammates even better. I tend to get nervous at times, and while my self confidence on the ice has improved greatly, it is still a work in progress. With my diligent nature, the help of experienced coaching staff, supportive teammates, and the top tier competition, I firmly believe I will receive the push that I need to realize my full potential. My greatest love is being a part of a team environment and winning culture, continually surrounded by a group of strong like minded young women who all have aspirations of playing at a high level in college and maybe even on the USA team. I bring my signature smile and an open mind to the rink everyday, and with my positive attitude and growth mindset push my teammates to give 110% effort. One of my strongest attributes is my ability to embrace adversity with a positive attitude, both academically and athletically. As Kelsey Koezler and Angela James did for me, I also aspire to serve as a role model for young girls and women of color, who can see that ice hockey is an amazing game with diverse individuals and is indeed for everyone.
Fast forward four years into the future, and I can see myself studying at a top university. Simultaneously, I will be playing college hockey at the highest level as a standout defense-man in the NCAA. As for now, I plan to continue to take full advantage of any and all opportunities that present themselves both academically and athletically, while honing my on ice skills. When I find myself in that rarefied space where opportunity, preparation and passion meet, I will be ready and waiting fully prepared to step into my future!
