Being from Minnesota, skating and playing hockey is in our blood, although no one in my family played hockey. My mom threw me in skates at the age of 6 having tried soccer, triathlons, dance, skiing, gymnastics and tennis. By the age of 12 I had found my calling and love for the sport of hockey. We had the opportunity, as a first year U10, to try on the pads and play goalie as well as continue to skate as a player. I capitalized on that opportunity, by the next year I knew I was meant to be a goalie. My efforts were rewarded by being placed on my first A team as a 2nd year U10.
Over the years, I have enjoyed training and learning from several different coaches and incorporating their best styles and techniques into my own goaltending style, which is best described as poised, calm and confident. My character on the ice is a reflection of how I am off the ice. I am first a student and am committed to my academics, with a plan of pursuing graduate and post-graduate studies. In addition to my schoolwork, I am also actively involved in community service as a Girl Scout. I have been a Girl Scout for over 9 years and I'm presently working on a project disseminating information of the signs and symptoms of concussions to the youth hockey teams in the State of Hockey. This ties in with my interest of working in the field of neuroscience.
I envision playing hockey at the collegiate level and contributing to the achievements of the team. I strive to to improve as a player every day and I try to lead by example. My coaches have repeatedly remarked on my coach-ability and my drive. However, my sense of success has been measured by that of the team.
