Hi! My name is Sydney Petersen, I’m a 2022 Left Wing. I have been playing hockey since I was three years old. Growing up I played in youth association, and travel hockey through 8th grade. In the past few years I was invited to play for numerous post season tournaments. I also made the Girls 04 District 5 CCM High Performance Team. And recently made the Girls 04/03 CCM High Performance team through Section 7. During the summers between seasons I participate in AAA summer leagues for a variety of teams like, OS Hockey, River City Selects, Shine Hockey and Premier Prep League. I am a three sport athlete (Hockey, Soccer and Lacrosse), playing 3 sports helps me develop all around. My goal is to continue to play competitive hockey at a D1/D3 collegiate level.
My coaches have told me I have good hands and that I am a strong physical player with a hard accurate shot. I make smart choices on and off the ice and that I am very coachable. I make an effort to be the best that I can be. I put all my effort into practice like I would a game. I come in with a great attitude and work ethic. I would call myself a solid forward. I work to help the defense and keep the puck low in the other teams zone. I work hard to be a leader on the team. I get to the puck first to make an early play, and don’t give up after a bad play or a goal. I am a hard worker that never gives up, you can count on me when the game gets hard.
My Freshman season I was named ‘most improved player‘ and I think that’s the role I’ve taken throughout my hockey career, I strive to become better and better each year. This year I’ve had the opportunity to be my high school hockey teams captain for my Junior year and will take that role again my Senior season. During my Junior year I was also awarded with All-Conference honorable mention. Along with the holding the most points on my team. Below are my stats throughout High School so far.
During my Freshman year I ended with 10 goals and 6 assists (16 points)
My Sophomore year I had 12 goals and 14 assists (25 points)
Finally my Junior year I had 8 goals and 9 assists (17), but due to Covid-19 we only ended up having 17 regular season games.
Off ice is just as important to me with my academics. The spring of 2018 earned the Presidential Academic Award and All Conference Academic in 2019 for lacrosse. My GPA is also at a steady 3.5 as I’ve continued to keep my grades up.
If you think I’d be a great recruit for your team, I’d love to message and get to know more about your school as well as your hockey team! Message me if you have anymore questions
