Growing up hockey was one of the most consistent parts of my life. I tried a multitude of other sports, but none of them suited me as well as hockey. My dad introduced me to skating when I was about 4 years old and I started playing hockey at the youth level when I was 5. Both my parents played sports growing up and wanted to bring the competitive mindset into my life. Hockey has become a way of life for my parents, two younger sisters, and I. There doesn't go a day without a conversation about hockey. Over the last 10 years, hockey has taught me leadership, patience, time management, and communication skills. Hockey is a very demanding sport, but after all the sweat and time I have put into this sport, there is not one part of me that would ever take it back.
Despite hockey being one of my big focuses in life, I strive to be a well-rounded student-athlete. I also play high-level competitive soccer and volunteer with youth programs. My education is also very important me. I try to keep an average of a 3.4 GPA while also pushing myself by taking multiple accelerated and honors classes. By the end of high school, my goal is to have around a 3.5-3.6 GPA and have a little bit of an idea what I would like to do after college. Although I have not decided what major I would like to study, the college I choose must have an exceptional program for that type of study.
So far throughout my high school career in both hockey and school I have had to overcome countless obstacles. Specifically for about 2 years, I was not satisfied with some of my team placements and my confidence levels began to lower. After a while, I really struggled to get back up on my feet, but with the support of friends and family and hard work on my part, I have overcome that and proven to myself and others that I can compete and stand out within the best players in Minnesota. This is reflected in me being recognized as one of the top defensemen in the 2020 class through being named to the CCM HP 16’s Final 54 as well as receiving All-Conference Honorable Mention.
I look forward to continuing my hockey career in college and would like to play at the highest level my abilities will take me.
