My name is Rhiannon Mollegard and I am a Senior at Bridgewater Raritan High School. I am 17 years old and have been playing hockey for 10 years. During school and on the ice, I have always been determined and hardworking, having taken advanced classes since fourth grade and playing competitive hockey for at least 8. During grades 4-8 I was tested and placed into the Academically Independent/Enrichment classes, and I have taken AP courses along with the Honors courses I've been taking since freshman year. I am mostly interested in the arts, whether it be literature, music, or painting. but am also interested in working with animals and exploring collegiate majors with that emphasis.
When it comes to hockey, I've always been drawn to it since my brothers and I first started playing in 2011. As a player, I am very flexible, gritty and durable, having never missed a game to injury. I can be placed anywhere on the team. For most of my years, I've played as a forward, being a points and goals leader year over year. However recently I played defense as well. Last season I advanced to 19U Tier 1, and for the third year in a row stepped up to play defense when my team needed me to. I did the same during my last year of 16U Tier 2, becoming an important contributor to our team making it all the way to Nationals in Denver. My mindset on the ice is defensive even as a forward, but coaches over the years have pointed out my vision for playmaking, work ethic and a high hockey IQ. I have a quiet personality off the ice and am not outstanding in height, but I am a very gritty player who isn't afraid to step into a battle on the boards or fight for position in front of the net.
I have been playing hockey more than half my life, and want to continue doing so in college. I plan on bringing my passion for the game to every hockey opportunity I am given.
