Having grown up with two older brothers who have played travel hockey and with my family being huge hockey fans, I grew to love the sport at a very young age. Learning to skate came very naturally for me and has become one of my best skillsets. I had learned to skate at the age of six, and in only a few weeks after taking the ice I was playing ice hockey in a local house program. I picked up the game quickly and became obsessed with the sport, wanting to learn all about it. I watched and learned from my older brothers by attending most of their games. As I grew older my passion and dedication for the sport of hockey also grew.
I became Captain of my PeeWee and Squirt level boy's travel teams and have learned what it takes to be a team leader and the commitment required to make myself a better player. I love the game of hockey and I am determined and dedicated to the sport. I am a strong skater and have a good vision of the ice. As a defensemen, I have developed excellent skills at using the boards to make good break-out passes and in using the net to avoid fore-checking pressure. I also have learned the value at working in unison with my defensive partner in all areas of the ice.
As far as academics are concerned, I carry the same level of commitment to my education as I do to hockey. I am a straight A student and my aspiration is to carry that commitment forward into college as I decide upon a career profession. Of all my personal qualities and characteristics, I would say that my dedication is my strongest quality. Once I find something I like, I become very focused and determined and try to be the best that I can be.
